One Year of Energy Independence: Powering Chortkiv Hospital with Solar

Last summer (June 2024), we flipped the switch on a 50 kW hybrid rooftop solar station, complete with a 40 kWh backup battery, at Chortkiv Hospital. Despite frequent blackout threats, the installation has delivered uninterrupted power to support critical care.

⚡ Key First-Year Highlights (June 2024 – April 2025):

• 31,800 kWh of clean energy generated;
• 73 % of the hospital’s energy needs met during peak sun months;
• USD 7,500 saved – nearly 15 % of the investment returned in the first year.

Thanks to these savings the hospital:

• Renovated the children’s department;
• Equipped a brand-new rehabilitation unit.

But this solar power station delivers more than just cost savings. It brings security, autonomy, and resilience to healthcare. Especially vital in wartime🛡️
