In the maternity hospital # 3 in Nikolaev, installation was completed and put into operation a solar station with a capacity of 60 kW, to increase the autonomy of the obstetric department of the medical institution. In the maternity hospital there is an obstetric and children’s ward with resuscitation and pathology of pregnant women, the medical institution is able to take up to 4,500 births a year. The project was implemented within the framework of the Light for Hospital Program, which is implemented by the Yellowblue Fourine Foundation for coordination of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and through financial support for Citi Ukraine. The installation of the power plant was accompanied by NGO “Ecoclub”.
Despite the hostilities in Ukraine, hospitals continue to be reinforced and their energy equipment – so that in the conditions of systemic rocket firing of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, the medical institutions were ready for possible emergency shutdowns of light and can function fully. Such measures are able to provide stable and autonomous work of health care facilities during emergencies, guarantees more energy safety, and will allow you to use solar energy as a power source and accumulate it.
According to the Law of Ukraine on the restoration and green transformation of the energy system, medical institutions will be able to implement the mechanism of active consumer of electricity. Usually hospitals produce electricity for their own needs. Now in the hours when electricity is produced more than consumed, its excess can be sold to the network. According to indicative estimates, this will allow hospitals to save about 5-10% of the money.
There are now more than 90 Ukrainian health care facilities with panels. In total, by the end of the year, 200 medical facilities are equipped with solar stations. Now, thanks to the efforts of the state, community, international partners and donors, it is possible, even in spite of the war, to introduce modern green technologies and strengthen Ukrainian medical institutions.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine supports the installation of solar power plants for the needs of medical institutions that will help them become energy independent and save money for utilities. The Ministry expresses great gratitude to all partners for their assistance and effective cooperation. Together we build an energy -independent and ecologically sustained future of Ukraine.
